The Legend of the Mystical Ninja

1991 · Action-Adventure · SNES

Overview

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (1991) is Konami's Super Famicom adventure, the first Ganbare Goemon game released in the West, mixing town exploration, side-scrolling action and minigames.

Deep Dive

Goemon and Ebisumaru — Kid Ying and Dr. Yang in the West — work through stages that each begin with a town, full of shops, minigames and places to learn new abilities, and end with a side-scrolling section and a boss. Two players can play together, and can ride piggyback with one moving and the other attacking. One of the minigames recreates the first level of Gradius.

Developer Story

Konami released the game in Japan on 19 July 1991 as Ganbare Goemon: Yuki-hime Kyūshutsu Emaki, in North America in February 1992 and in Europe in 1994.
