Beyond Oasis

1994 · Action-Adventure · Genesis

Overview

Beyond Oasis (1994), The Story of Thor in Japan and Europe, is Ancient's Mega Drive action-adventure, in which Prince Ali uses a gold armlet to summon four elemental spirits.

Deep Dive

Prince Ali finds a buried gold armlet that once summoned four spirits — Dytto of water, Efreet of fire, Shade of shadow and Bow of plants — and must stop the bearer of the evil silver armlet, who is using it to cause destruction again. Much like The Legend of Zelda, the game has Ali collect health and mana items, weapons such as swords, crossbows and bombs, many of which break after limited use, and the spirits themselves, found in shrines.

Developer Story

Yuzo Koshiro produced and scored the game at Ancient, with art by Ayano Koshiro. Sega released it in Japan on 9 December 1994 and in North America and Europe in March 1995.
