1992 · Space Combat · PC
Star Control II (1992) is Toys for Bob's space adventure across more than 500 stars, with branching conversations with 25 alien races and real-time ship battles.
The player explores a galaxy of over 500 stars and 3,800 planets, gathers resources, builds a fleet and talks to 25 alien races through branching conversations. Ship battles are real-time, carried over from the first Star Control, and a two-player Super Melee mode is included.
Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford designed it, and Accolade released it for MS-DOS in 1992, with a 3DO version in 1994. It won awards including Pelit's 1993 Game of the Year and has since appeared on many lists of the greatest games.
