1999 · Strategy · PC
Homeworld (1999) is Relic's first game, a real-time strategy game fought in full 3D space, whose fleet carries over from mission to mission.
Battles take place in a fully three-dimensional sphere rather than on a flat map. Players gather resources and build a fleet around a mothership, and the fleet carries over across the campaign's 16 missions.
Relic developed it and Sierra published it in September 1999, with a score by Paul Ruskay. It sold over 500,000 copies in six months. Critics praised the graphics and multiplayer, while the story and difficulty drew mixed reviews.
