Overview

Moon Cresta (1980) is a fixed shooter in which the player docks the three stages of a rocket together in mid-game, gaining firepower but becoming a bigger target.

Deep Dive

The player starts with a single-laser ship. Docking with the second and third stages of the rocket adds more lasers, up to five in all, but makes the combined ship a larger target, and a misaligned docking destroys the stage. The game ends when all three stages are lost.

Developer Story

Jorudan developed the game, with Shigeki Fujiwara as designer, and Nichibutsu released it in Japan on 15 February 1980, with Gremlin/Sega distributing it in North America. Incentive Software published several home versions, and the series continued with Terra Cresta (1985).

Did You Know?

  • It was the fourth highest-earning arcade game of 1980 in Japan.
