1995 · Puzzle · Game Boy
Mario's Picross (1995) is Nintendo's Game Boy picture-logic puzzle game, a hit in Japan whose poor Western sales kept its sequels there until Picross DS.
Number clues show which squares of a 5×5, 10×10 or 15×15 grid to fill in to reveal a picture. Each puzzle has 30 minutes, and mistakes cost 2, then 4, then 8 minutes. There are 256 puzzles.
Jupiter and Ape developed it, and Nintendo released it in March 1995 in Japan and North America. It sold well in Japan but poorly in English-speaking regions.
