Chuckie Egg (1983) is the British home-computer platformer in which Hen-House Harry collects twelve eggs per level while dodging hens and, eventually, a giant freed duck.
Hen-House Harry must collect the twelve eggs on each level before the timer runs out, climbing ladders and jumping between platforms. Piles of seed score points and briefly stop the clock, but patrolling hens eat them, and touching a hen or falling through a gap costs one of Harry's five lives. A giant duck sits caged at the top of the screen through the first eight levels; on later passes it is freed and chases Harry, while the hens grow in number and speed. There are forty levels in all.
A&F Software released Chuckie Egg in 1983 for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro and Dragon 32, and it was later converted to the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, MSX, Atari 8-bit computers, Amiga, Atari ST and PC. The BBC version topped the BBC chart in 1984, and Chuckie Egg 2 followed in 1985.
