1992 · Shooter · SNES
Axelay (1992) is Konami's Super NES shooter, alternating side-on stages with top-down ones warped for a pseudo-3D effect.
Like Life Force, it switches between vertical and horizontal stages, and the top-down stages are warped to look three-dimensional. The pilot sets out to recover weapons taken by the invaders, gaining new ones stage by stage rather than from power-ups.
Kazumi Kitaue produced it and Taro Kudo composed the music. Konami released it in Japan and North America in September 1992 and in Europe a year later. It averaged about 81% on GameRankings.
