Overview

Nebulus (1987) is John M. Phillips's platform game, in which Pogo climbs rotating towers in the sea — the tower turns around him as he moves, giving a striking 3D effect.

Deep Dive

Pogo has to climb and destroy eight cylindrical towers standing in the sea. As he walks, the tower rotates rather than the character moving across the screen, creating a 3D effect. Enemies can knock him off ledges, and falling into the sea is fatal. Between towers, a submarine bonus stage lets him shoot fish.

Developer Story

John M. Phillips designed the game, and Hewson released it in 1987 for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Amiga and Atari ST. Bits Studios later made Game Boy and NES versions, and Nebulus 2 followed on the Amiga.
