Overview

Heroes of Might and Magic (1995) is Jon Van Caneghem's turn-based strategy spin-off from the Might and Magic role-playing series, and the start of its own long series.

Deep Dive

It is a turn-based strategy game for one player or several. The 1996 Windows version added a map editor, a random map generator, CD audio and new scenarios.

Developer Story

Van Caneghem designed it at New World Computing, with Phil Steinmeyer programming. It came out for DOS in September 1995, and 100,000 copies had shipped by mid-November. Computer Gaming World gave it 5/5 and made it joint Strategy Game of the Year.
