Overview

Gods (1991) is the Bitmap Brothers' platform game, in which Hercules fights through four guardians to win back the citadel of the gods — with a score by John Foxx as Nation 12.

Deep Dive

Hercules sets out to reclaim the citadel of the gods from four guardians, each waiting as a boss at the end of a level. The game asks for precisely timed jumps and careful puzzle-solving with levers and objects, and the hero can carry only four items at a time. Treasure collected along the way is spent with a trader between levels on weapons and other items.

Developer Story

The Bitmap Brothers released Gods for the Amiga and Atari ST in 1991, published by Renegade in Europe. Conversions followed for the Mega Drive, Super NES, Acorn Archimedes and PC-98, and Gods Remastered appeared in 2018.
