Full Throttle

1995 · Point-and-Click Adventure · PC/DOS

Overview

Full Throttle (1995) is Tim Schafer's biker adventure, in which gang leader Ben is framed for murder — the first LucasArts adventure to sell more than a million copies.

Deep Dive

Ben, leader of a biker gang, is framed for the murder of Malcolm Corley, founder of Corley Motors. The real killer is the company's vice president, Adrian Ripburger, who plans to switch Corley to making minivans. Ben teams up with the mechanic Maureen, Corley's illegitimate daughter, to expose him at a shareholders' meeting. The game introduced LucasArts' contextual pie menu, and failed action sequences simply reset rather than ending the game.

Developer Story

It was Tim Schafer's first project as lead designer, with art by Peter Chan and music by Peter McConnell. Built on SCUMM with the INSANE engine for its video sequences, on a budget of $1.5 million, it was released on 19 May 1995. Double Fine released a remaster in 2017.
