Overview

Breath of Fire III (1997) is Capcom's PlayStation RPG and the first in the series with 3D environments, in which Ryu, the last of the dragon Brood, learns why his people were wiped out.

Deep Dive

Ryu, the last of the Brood, searches for the truth about his people and comes up against Myria, the goddess who ordered the dragons' destruction. His companions include Nina, Rei, Teepo, Momo, Garr and Peco. Characters are 2D sprites in 3D environments, and battles are turn-based with a party of three. Ryu turns into dragons by combining chrysms, characters learn skills by becoming apprentices to Masters, and a Fairy Village can be built up to unlock items and mini-games.
