Princess Maker 2

1993 · Simulation · PC-9801

Overview

Princess Maker 2 (1993) is Gainax's PC-98 raising simulation, in which the player schedules a daughter's lessons, jobs and adventures from age 10 to 18 — with 74 possible endings.

Deep Dive

The player raises a girl from the age of ten to eighteen, planning her life one month at a time in three periods. Each period goes to training, part-time work, adventure or free time, and every choice shapes her abilities and personality. When she turns eighteen she chooses a career, and the game ends on one of 74 possible outcomes. Designer Takami Akai described it as 'a long-term game where you make a commitment and create your own world'.

Developer Story

The second Princess Maker game was designed by Takami Akai and Masato Kato and released for the PC-9801 on 15 June 1993. Ports followed for MS-DOS, FM Towns, PC Engine, Saturn, 3DO and Windows, and the 2004 remaster Refine reached English-speaking players on Steam in 2016.
