Kick Off

1989 · Sports · Amiga / Atari ST

Overview

Kick Off (1989) is Dino Dini's football game for Anco, in which the ball is not stuck to the player's feet but knocked ahead, so control takes skill.

Deep Dive

Instead of the ball sticking to whoever has it, players knock it ahead as they run, which makes control a matter of skill. It was developed first for the Atari ST and then ported to the Amiga.

Developer Story

Dini created it, and Anco published it in 1989. It was followed by Player Manager and Kick Off 2 in 1990; Dini later left Anco and made Goal! for Virgin in 1993.

Did You Know?

  • It won a 1989 Golden Joystick Award for Best 16-bit Product.
  • Amiga Power's Stuart Campbell disliked the series.
