Forgotten Worlds

1988 · Horizontal Shooter · Arcade

Overview

Forgotten Worlds (1988) is the first game on Capcom's CP System board, a two-player shooter in which supersoldiers aim in sixteen directions with a rotating roll switch.

Deep Dive

In the 29th century the evil god Bios has left Earth a wasteland, the Dust World, and two nameless supersoldiers are created to defeat him and eight other evil gods across nine stages. A rotating "roll switch" aims in sixteen directions, and pressing it rapidly triggers a "megacrush" attack that costs vitality. A satellite module gives backup fire, and Zenny collected along the way buys upgrades in shops.

Developer Story

Capcom released it in Japan on 13 May 1988 as the first title on its CP System hardware. Sega made a Genesis version in 1989 with seven of the nine stages, and U.S. Gold released European home computer versions.
