Overview

Circus Charlie (1984) is Konami's arcade game in which Charlie the clown performs six circus acts, from jumping a lion through flaming hoops to swinging between trapezes.

Deep Dive

Charlie the clown works through six circus acts. He rides a lion through flaming rings, walks a tightrope while jumping monkeys, bounces between trampolines past knife throwers and fire breathers, hops from ball to ball, rides a horse over trampolines and walls, and swings from trapeze to trapeze. After the sixth act the show starts again at a faster pace.

Developer Story

Konami released it in arcades in 1984, with Centuri distributing it in North America in March and the Japanese release following in April. An MSX version came out the same year, and a Famicom version in 1986.

  • Its music is based on "American Patrol" and "The Blue Danube".
