Alien Syndrome (1987) is Sega's two-player shooter in which Ricky and Mary rescue hostages from alien-infested ships before a time bomb goes off.
The players move through levels that scroll in eight directions, freeing hostages against the clock and then facing a guardian at the end. After seven levels the game loops with more aggressive aliens and less time.
Sega R&D1 made it for Sega's System 16 boards, with music by Tohru Nakabayashi. It was a commercial success, and versions followed on the Master System, NES, home computers and Game Gear, handled by several different companies.
