Overview

IK+ (1987), International Karate +, is Archer Maclean's three-way karate game on a beach, with bonus rounds of deflecting bouncing balls and a Rob Hubbard score.

Deep Dive

Three karateka fight at once on a beach, each trying to be first to six points, with one or two human players and the computer controlling the rest. Every two rounds a bonus game has players deflecting bouncing balls or, in some versions, kicking away bombs. The Amiga version hides background antics — a Pac-Man, a descending spider, a U-boat periscope — and a key combination that makes all three fighters' trousers fall down.

Developer Story

Archer Maclean designed the game at System 3 as a successor to International Karate (1985), and it was released in October 1987 for the Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum, with Atari ST and Amiga versions in 1988. Activision published it in the US as Chop N' Drop.
