Developer Credit Screen

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior · Super Nintendo (SNES) · 1992

A hidden screen displaying personal messages and credits from the Capcom development team, accessible through a specific button sequence at the title screen.

The SNES port of Street Fighter II contains a hidden credits and message screen that the Capcom team added to leave their mark on the product in a way the official credits did not allow. Unlike standard credits, the screen includes informal personal messages from individual programmers and designers — a practice unusual enough in 1992 to attract significant attention from gaming publications that covered the discovery. The tradition of hiding developer messages in Capcom's SNES catalogue was observed across several titles, with different teams leaving different kinds of personal content, from simple names to jokes directed at anyone patient enough to find them.

How to find it:

At the title screen, hold L + R and press Down, R, Up, L, Y, B simultaneously. If entered correctly, a special screen will appear showing messages from the development team before returning to the title screen.

Key Facts:
  • Contains personal messages from Capcom developers rather than standard credit listings
  • Part of a broader Capcom tradition of hiding developer content in SNES-era titles
  • Discovered and covered by gaming magazines within weeks of the game's release
  • Represents one of the earliest examples of informal developer self-expression in a major fighting game
