The 3DO Road Rash was significantly enhanced over its 16-bit predecessors — with digitised video sequences, CD-quality music from real bands including Soundgarden and Therapy?, and improved visuals.
Electronic Arts used the 3DO's CD-ROM storage to add features that distinguished Road Rash from the 16-bit versions. Music from real bands played from CD, video sequences with live actors provided narrative between races.
EA developed Road Rash specifically to showcase 3DO capabilities, creating a version that exceeded the 16-bit originals in presentation.
