Klax

1990 · Puzzle · Atari Lynx

Overview

Klax on the Lynx was a faithful arcade port of one of the most original puzzle games of 1989 — catching coloured tiles on a conveyor and stacking them to make matches of three or more.

Deep Dive

Klax was designed by Mark Stephen Pierce and Dave Akers at Atari Games and was one of the Lynx's launch titles. The puzzle was catching tiles falling from a ramp and flipping them to create sequences of matching colours.

Developer Story

Klax was developed by Atari Games for the arcade and converted to the Lynx as a launch title.

Did You Know?

  • Klax's tagline, 'It is the nineties and there is time for Klax,' was a parody of a soda advertisement and became an unintentional meme.
  • The Lynx Klax was considered the closest to the arcade original of any home version.
